Wish List - Sunglasses

Wednesday, July 27, 2016

Good evening ladies!

How beautiful is the weather we've been having the last few days?! It's a pity that the pollen count is so high I can barely breathe, let alone tolerate being outside! Heartbreaking!!!

Anyone else suffering with hay fever? Head over to my facebook page Fairly Fabulous, to check out some tips for alleviating your symptoms!

So, with the weather being so fantastic, and summer holiday season in full swing, I thought I'd put together some sunglasses inspiration in the form of a wishlist!

I'm addicted to buying sunglasses. I'd say I have about 30 pairs, most from Penneys, so it's safe to say that I love sunnies!

Here's a few sunglasses that I'd love to find in my collection!

Over €100

Prada Cat Eye Sunglasses PR53SS

How faaaab are these?!! They look like some gal with a head scarf should be wearing them as she cruises around in a vintage convertable.

They're so expensive though!!! €270. Maybe one day.

A girl can dream, right?

You can get them in Brown Thomas here. While you're at it, wanna get me a pair? Thaaaaaanks!

Under €100

I actually can't believe that I don't have a pair of black aviators! They're such a style staple. They'll literally go with anything.

I may have just found my excuse to buy them here! €56.34 Treat yo'self!

Under €50

To me, this is a more achievable price point for a pair of deisgner sunnies. At AUS$60 which is around €41, I can actually afford these!

It's pretty hard to find somewhere to buy these, but you can get them here. These are coming from Australia though so be careful of import duty!!! They'll be coming out in a new colour in the autumn, so I might wait and see what colour they are.

Under €25

Black Metal Detail Cat Eye Sunglasses

You can get them here!

So these are the sunglasses I have my eye on at the moment.
If you're lucky enough to own any of these, or if you're lusting after them let me know!

Artistry Exact Fit Longwearing Foundation Review *

Friday, July 15, 2016

Hey guys!

So, this blog is all about the new Artistry Exact Fit Longwearing Foundation. I was sent this by the lovely ladies at Rachel Dalton Communications. I really wanted to make sure that I liked it before telling you guys about it so that you we're getting a comprehensive review.

© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016
The first time I used the foundation I really liked it. I went on nicely and gave my skin a flawless finish. But then for some reason, the next few times I used it, it didn't go on well at all. It went on really streaky and didn't blend very well. So, I stopped using it for a while. But I now know why it wasn't working for me. Keep reading and I'll tell you why...

© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016

I went back to the foundation a few weeks ago because I wanted to give it another chance, and because it has SPF 15 in it which is great for the fab weather we've been having recently. I decided to really think about how I was applying it, what base and brush to use.

© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016
I settled on using the P.S Love to Glow moisturiser from Penney's and a Penney's matte facial suncream in SPF30. Turns out that this is the perfect combo to use as a base for this foundation. I've used other moisturisers as well and they've worked too. It's also really important to allow your moisturiser or primer to dry before applying this foundation, otherwise it goes on all streaky!

It's all about prep with this foundation. It makes sense when you think about it. If you don't prepare your skin your foundation isn't going to turn out the way you want it to.

© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016
The brush I've gotten the best results with is the Real Techniques Buffing Brush. I tried other brushes, such as a stippling brush, but through trial and error, I found that the Real Techniques brush was the best.

© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016
So overall, I really like this foundation at the moment. I've been wearing it in work for the past month and it really does what it says on the tin. It has medium to full coverage and it really does last all day. I've been working outside for the most part and even so it still lasts better than any of my other foundations, and feels really light on the skin.

© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016
Here's a shameless selfie I took in work a few weeks ago of me wearing the foundation.

It's so handy that it has SPF 15 in it, which has stopped my face from getting burnt.

I really like the design of the bottle. It's so luxurious looking. The dispenser pump is fab. It dispenses just the right amount to cover your face, and you can also twist it to lock it so that it doesn't leak all over your makeup bag!
© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016

So yes, all in all I'm very impressed with this foundation, after figuring out how it best works for me!

Artistry EXACT FIT Longwearing Foundation comes in a variety of shades to suit all skin types!

It retails at €48.95 and you can purchase it here.

Let me know if you try it, and what you think of it!

Skinnydipping

Monday, May 02, 2016

Hey Ladies! (and gents?)

I know I said that I'd be back blogging more, but, I spoke too soon! I shouldn't have made that promise going into the last month of my postgrad. To say that I'm swamped with work is an understatement!

But here I am, writing a blog post and procrastinating.

Story of my life.

Quick update on my twitter! I've changed my handle to @fairlyfabulousb so that its more in line with the rest of my social media! The rest of my links are at the end of this post!

Anyways! Today's blog is all about my Skinnydip London phone cases.

© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016

I bought an iPhone back in October, and I was so excited about all the phone cases that I would be able to get from Penneys. But, low and behold, they don't make them for the iPhone 5C only 5/5S, which kind of fit, but the hard cases don't fit at all and the silicone ones only kind of fit.

So... I decided to try Skinnydip!

I'd seen them stocked in River Island, and I thought that they were pretty cool and funky. Thats where I bought my first Skinnydip case from.

"Christmas Pugs"

© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016
It was around Christmas (obviously) and I got it in the sale online for €2!!!! Reduced from €16/€17! Bargin!

© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016
It's so cute! I can't wait to crack it out again next Christmas. I kept it on for way too long after Christmas. I was forced to take it off near the end of January.

© Fairly Fabulous Blog
My green phone made it extra festive!

After getting the pug case, I really wanted more, seeing as the Penneys (Primark) ones don't fit the iPhone 5c properly, I really wanted some fab cases that actually fitted, so I made my way to the Skinnydip London online sale.

Some of these cases are no longer available, but I'll link to the ones that are still in stock!

"The Ashley Case"

This one is called the Ashley case, and it's made from vegan leather, which is fancy talk for faux leather.

© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016
I have three cases with the gold around the edges and I think that it makes the case look pretty expensive!
© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016
I like the way the branding is so prominent on the cases.

© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016
The Ashley case is no longer available on the website, but they have lots of other gorgeous ones that I have my eye on!

"The Heart Macaroon Case"

This next case is the one that I've had on my phone the most since I got them. I love the glitter. It's so girly. This one is called the Heart Macaroon Case.

© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016
I had a bit of trouble with this case when it arrived. The packaging was open and the case didn't fit my phone. I rang customer care, and the lovely lady at the other end of the phone sent out a replacement straight away!

I've never experienced such fantastic customer service from any other company, so without a doubt I will be shopping there again!

© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016

At first I wasn't sure that the green of my phone would go with the colours on the case, seeing as it was clear, but I actually really like it!

© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016
This case is still available, and you can get it for the iPhone SE/5/5s,  6/6s and 6 Plus/6S Plus. You can get the 5c here.

"The Pink Case"

The next case is the one that is on my phone at the moment. Pink is my favourite colour and the basic design is really cute.

© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016
It's such a nice shade of pink, and it looks like real leather.

© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016
I just really like it. Sometimes less is more!

© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016

The Pink Case is still available to buy and it's still on sale for only £6! You can get it here.

"The Barbie Case"

And last but not least! My favourite of the lot! But isn't it faaaaaab!!!! This one is aptly called the Barbie Case.

© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016
It's so SPARKLDEY!!!!

© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016
I love the gold with the pink!

© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016
I hardly ever use this one though. I think it's a bit too bling for everyday life, and I don't want the sparkles to fall off!

Unfortunately this is soldout at the moment, but you can keep an eye on it here!

©Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016

The customer service I received from Skinnydip was second to none, and the replacement case arrived very fast!

The only criticism I'd have about the cases is that they're hard to get off. But on the other hand this is good, because they won't fly of when you drop your phone! You just have to learn the knack to getting them off!

I'll definitely be buying more cases from Skinnydip in the future! I haven't seen any as nice anywhere else.

© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016

Thanks for reading! I'll be finished college in the next few days so hopefully I'll be back to a better scheduele!

Until next time!

Anyways! A lot of you seemed very interested in the skincare products I use at night so I decided that I would do a full blogpost on my routine!

I've seen such a change in my skin since begining to use these products. Honestly, my skin has never been in better shape.

I used to get breakouts around my t-zone, but now I actually can't remember the last time I had a spot! It's amazing! Miracles do happen!

While I am not being paid to write this post, I recieved some of the products featured here in November at the #DeiseBloggers event. I have been using these products for months, and all views are my honest opinions. I will put a * beside the products I received. And remember, everyone's skin is different, and what works for me might not work for you, and vice versa!

So, here we go! These are the products I use to take off my makeup and keep my skin looking great before bed!

I've listed the products in the order in which I use them at night!

Garnier Micellar Water

This is the only cleanser I use to take off my makeup! After buying this I stopped using wipes, as it's just so much easier to use, and so much better for your skin. My skin feels clean and fresh after using this, something I can't say about wipes.

My new favourite way of taking my makeup off!
© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016

Method:

Dampening a few round cosmetic pads with the Garnier Micellar Water, just sweep it over your face. No need for scrubbing!

I have a much more in-depth review about this Micellar Water here if you want to have a look!

I got my bottle in Penneys (Primark) for only €4.50. I think it's more expensive elsewhere.

Nivea Daily Essentails Double Effect Eye Makeup Remover *

I discovered this product yeeears ago, and I've never looked back!

This is the only Eye Makeup remover I'll use!

This has to be the one of the best eye makeup removers out there.

Method:

Pour some on a cosmetic pad and wipe, don't scrub, across your eye.

I've already reviewed this fab product, and you can read my review by clicking here.

This retails for about €5, is available in most pharmacies. You can get it in Boots here.

Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix Exfoliating Facial Pads

I love these!!!!!!!

My Holy Grail!!!
© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016

You know thoses bumps on your forehead? Mine are gone!

While it can take a week or two to see any major difference, these exfoliating pads do exactly what they say on the tin! My skin has definitely been resurfaced and looks a lot smoother. Makeup sits better on my face too.

My Holy Grail!!!
© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016

When you begin using them I'd advise to only use them every second or third day, until your skin builds up a tolerence to them, as there can be quite a sting to them at the start. While you can use these twice a day, I think that that would be too harsh on my skin so I only use them at night. I sometimes take a break from these for a few days as well, just to give my skin a rest.

Method:

The pads are pre-soaked, so just sweep them across your face! Easy-peasy!

Top tip! When you've finished with your face, you can use the excess formula on your neck, the back of your neck and the back of your hands. These are the places that show age when you're older, so the glycolic acid will do wonders!

You can get these in most pharmacies and they range in price (depending on the shop) from between €12 and €18. I got mine in Sam McCauley's Pharmacy for around the €12 mark.

There on sale in Boots at the moment and you can get them here.

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Hydration Light Cream *

This product promises to plump and smooth dehydration lines, and I've found that it does just that for my skin!

Plumps and Smooths Dehydration Lines
© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016
I recieved this little 15ml sample pot at the #DeiseBloggers event back in November 2015 and I've been using it ever since! A little really goes a long way with this product, especially as I only use it on my T-zone - the area most susceptible to dehydration lines.

Plumps and Smooths Dehydration Lines
© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016
I found from the start of using this product that it really worked for me and did what it says on the tin!
I have quite a dry T-zone and beacuse of this I had dehydration lines on my forehead. However, since begining to use this product they have really reduced in appearence! Of course I still have days where I haven't drank enough water and my skin will reflect that, but by and large, this product has done the trick for me!
Delighted!

I will definitely be purchasing the full sized version of this product, once my sample runs out!!!

Method:

Taking a small amount on one finger, using circular motions, gently rub into the areas you want to target. (For me this is the dry skin of my T-zone).

You can get Vichy products at most good pharmacies.

A 50ml tub is €21.99 in Boots, and you can get it here.

Depending on whether I want a deep hydration or just something light, I will alternate between the next two products...

Ziaja Spa Marine Algae Active Firming Cream *

This is the night cream I use when I'm looking for deep hydration.

Deep Hydration Night Cream #ZiajaLove
© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016

I have become a big fan of the Ziaja brand, ever since I was introduced to them at the #DeiseBloggers event last year.
While this product says it is for 30+ skin, I use it anyway!
I'd use this product most nights for a deep overnight moisturisation. It leaves my skin feeling incredibly smooth and soft the next morning and it has such a nice, fresh scent.
This product can be quite heavy, as it is so moisturising, so I wouldn't recommend using it during the day.

#ZiajaLove!!!

Method:
Using your fingers, gently massage the product into your skin in circular motions.

Ziaja is quickly making its way into Irish pharmacies but meanwhile, you can get it online form originalbeauty.ie for €6.99 here.

Nuxe Nuxellence Detox Night *

I love the way this product makes my skin feel - silky and luxurious.

© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016
This is such a luxury product in my eyes. It feels so lovely on my skin, and leaves my skin looking and feeling fresher. It is a detoxifying and anti-ageing night cream.
A downside of this product is how expensive it is! Because of this I use it quite sparingly (student problems), but everytime I use it I love the results.
This product is definitely a treat for your skin!

Method:

Twist the top of the bottle to reveal the cleverly hidden pump.
Using only a small amount of the product massage it into your skin at night.

Like I said above this is a luxury product and it comes with a price tag to match! You can get it in Boots for €49 here.

Boots Essential Cucumber Eye Gel

This gel has such a cooling sensation on the eyes.

A cooling eye gel!
© Fairly Fabulous Blog 2016
This is another product that I've been using for years, and at only €2, it's a total bargin!

As most of you probably know, cucumber has great cooling properties and is very good for reducing puffiness around the eye area. This product does both of those things quite effectively!

The cooling sensation feels so nice after a long day on tired eyes. I always apply it just before I turn out my light to go to sleep.

Method:

Squeeze a small drop under each eye. Using your fingers, smooth the gel around your eye area: your undereye and lids.

You can get this from Boots for only €1.99 here. Boots have a 3 for 2 offer on selected Boots essentials at the moment to so make sure to pick it up!

So thats it! My Night Time Skincare Routine! I must reiterate that while these products work well for me, they may not work for you. It's all about experimenting with different products to find what suits your skin the best!

I'm always looking for new wonder products, so to keep up to date with what I'm loving, make sure to follow me on all my social medias! Links are below!
